What is Physiotherapy?
The aim of physiotherapy is to help restore and optimise movement and normal body function following injury, illness or surgery. Physiotherapy is a science-based profession and takes a 'whole person' approach to health and wellbeing supportive to our client's lifestyle.
At the core of physiotherapy is the patient's involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment. You can benefit from physiotherapy at any stage of life. Physiotherapy is commonly used in the treatment of muscle and joint conditions, such as back, neck, upper and lower limb pain, in preparation for a sporting event, as well as more complex conditions including persistent pain and post-operative rehabilitation.
Physiotherapists take a holistic approach to treatment assessing the whole body and using a wide range of hands on techniques alongside exercise and advice. Other treatments include Pilates, acupuncture and relaxation. Physiotherapists will offer tailored information on ways to modify your lifestyle, reduce future problems and build your resilience.
