Every course of treatment starts with a 45-minute initial assessment to assess your symptoms, then recommend the right plan for you and begin treatment. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. Your physiotherapist will advise how many appointments you will need but you can stop treatment at any time. *Treatment price does not include specialist pelvic health physiotherapy appointments.

Physiotherapy is a profession whose aim is to encourage and support the return to normal following illness, surgery, disease or trauma. It can be effective in the treatment of a range of muscle, joint and nerve conditions.

Physiotherapists at Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital use a wide range of techniques such as manual therapy and exercise prescription to maintain health for people of all ages, helping patients to manage pain and prevent disease.

We can offer expertise in upper limb and hand rehabilitation, pain management programmes and post-surgical recovery. Many of our therapists are also trained in Pilates, Acupuncture and Joint Manipulation, carrying out thorough biomechanical assessments to enhance and optimise function. We also offer a Mummy MOT service.

We have strong links with many orthopaedic consultants and have an excellent track record in the rehabilitation of upper and lower limb sports injuries. In addition, we can offer pre and post natal treatment and advice.

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

At Exeter Hospital, we offer pelvic health physiotherapy for both men and women. Treating conditions such as bladder problems, bowel problems and pelvic pain.

How can I help you improve your health?

Ali graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2003 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. Since then she has worked for 20 years in both the NHS and private sector within the UK.

Ali completed a Master’s degree in Continence and Uro-Gynaecology in 2016 and has a wide range of experience treating a variety of Male and Female pelvic conditions with a particular interest in urinary and faecal incontinence, gynaecological prolapse conditions, pelvic pain and managing an overactive bladder.

In her spare time, Ali spends time with her family and enjoys cooking and sea swimming.

Jamie has been practising since 2005 and has worked in a variety of settings including the NHS ICU, acute care, outpatient and home care prior to joining the Nuffield Health Outpatient Team.

He has specialised in Hand Therapy for over 18 years working in Rheumatology, Trauma and Orthopaedics and Plastics Rehabilitation. Working with both non-operable and post-operable conditions in paediatrics and adults.

His clinical interests include soft tissue and orthopaedic traumatic injuries and rehabilitation of hand or wrist injuries, conditions and problems. He is very experienced in the fabrication of thermoplastic bespoke splinting and can offer advice and education on managing a wide variety of upper limb issues, problems and conditions.

We are excited to have started the 2024 GP education schedule with a talk by Professor Timperley on 6th February titled: "21st Century Total Hip Replacement.  Results, Robotics and tendon-sparing techniques. The talk was held via MS teams with both GPs and Physiotherapists attending.

 

Our next event is the Minerva Group meeting at The Salutation Inn when Dr Kirtsy Gillies, our Women’s Health specialist, will be talking about PCOS to 25 GPs.

 

We are now preparing for our March events which include Interactive Dermatology Case discussions with Dr Chris Bower, our Exeter Skin Club event with Dr Hannah Cookson and our bi-annual Devon Pentagon Meeting which is a full day event with five speakers and the theme is “Allergies”.

She now has a specialist interest in orthopaedic and trauma rehab.
