Physiotherapy is an appropriate choice of treatment for a wide variety of muscle, joint and nerve conditions.

All our physiotherapists are focused on providing you with the most effective and appropriate treatment, whether you need a short course of treatment or an extended rehabilitation programme. This may require a change in lifestyle and/or continued exercise programme, our physiotherapy team will guide you.

How can I help you improve your health?

I qualified in 2006 with a 2:1 BSc (HONS) Physiotherapy from the University of Teesside.  Prior to working for Nuffield Health Tees I  worked for Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust for 8 years as a HPC and CSP registered Physiotherapist.

At the QEH I gained rotational experience in all of the core physiotherapy specialities including Medical/Elderly, Neurology (in patients/community), MSK, Orthopaedics, Cardiac and ITU/respiratory and Paediatrics (including special schools/ community/ lower limb clinic/hydrotherapy/rebound).

I have continued with my post graduate education and commitment to my on-going CPD by attending various recognised courses. Concentrating mostly on Musculoskeletal, as this is my main area of interest. Courses such as The Mulligan concept (Level 1) Nags, Snags & Mobilisation with movement, Problem solving the shoulder – Assessment and management of shoulder dysfunction, Modified Pilates for Rehabilitation (Mat work Level 1 AACP), Bobath, Foundation in Acupuncture (AACP) and Clinical Educators Course (Level 1).

Gaining a well-balanced rotational experience and the opportunity to work with experienced therapy teams along with completing the above courses have helped me gain expert manual therapeutic skills and healing techniques.

I enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle, making the most of opportunities given to me. I take part in sporting events for charity, such as the Great North Run and hopefully the London Marathon in 2017 also for charity.

I feel I am now ready to specialise and further my career in Nuffield health as a MSK Physiotherapist and will be attending a SOMM Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine to consolidate all my previous knowledge. I hopefully look forward to very exciting clinical and managerial opportunities that will help me develop as a physiotherapist.

My Qualifications

  • BSc Physiotherapy (Hons)
  • Clinical Educator - Level 1
  • Modified Pilates for rehabilitation (APPI)
  • Foundation in Acupuncture (AACP)
  • Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

How can I help you improve your health?

Having worked in the health and fitness industry for over ten years I developed a keen interest in the human body. This initial interest led me to pursue a career in Physiotherapy, graduating in 2010 at Teesside University.

I soon moved into the NHS completing several core competencies, notably in complex trauma and orthopaedics.

I moved over to the Nuffield Hospital in 2012, initially working on the ward but now predominately in outpatients. I work with a variety of people and conditions ranging from postoperative joint replacements to chronic complaints such as osteoarthritis.

I also run and deliver the hospitals physiotherapy pre-surgery group or PreSEG aimed at preparing patients for joint surgery before their operation.

I enjoy treating many regions of the body from the shoulder to the knee but I am developing further interests in biomechanics and orthotics, particularly of the lower limb.

I am also a qualified acupuncturist and use this skill regularly in practice. In the future I would like to complete a Master’s degree, possibly in relation to orthotics and biomechanics but I am currently enjoying my role and gaining further experience.

My Qualifications

  • BSc Hons Physiotherapy
  • Level 2 Gym Instructor

Since graduating  from the University of Northumbria in 2007 I have worked at  the Newcastle Hospitals RVI, Freeman and General completing a variety of rotations in complex respiratory medicine, HDU/ ITU, working with transplant patients, hands, burns and plastics, elderly and MSK.

As my background lies within teaching aerobics, gym instruction and dance I enjoy taking the spinal rehabilitation classes and in particular teaching Pilates. How can I help you improve your health?

I graduated from Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh in 1989 and have had a wide and varied career. After completing my rotations I specialised in working with adults and children with learning disabilities and there developed a keen interest in holistic therapy, which has stayed with me in my practise today.

I look at all aspects of a person’s needs including psychological, physical and social which need to be taken into account to see them as a whole to determine a plan of treatment.

After a short career break I joined the Tees team in 2003 working in outpatients and developed my skills with a post grad certificate in musculoskeletal studies and have continued to consolidate my skills with a number of training courses, in such areas as Clinical Pilates, ultimate knee rehabilitation, low light laser therapy and acupuncture to name a few, all allowing me to treat clients with a wide range of injuries and post-operative conditions.

I am also qualified to treat women’s health issues. This includes the assessment and management of continence problems, constipation, ante and post natal problems including pelvic floor re training.

I have been Physiotherapy Manager since 2012 continuing to develop a first class physiotherapy team.

How can I help you improve your health?

I graduated in 2010 at Teesside University and developed my skills through core rotations within the Newcastle and Darlington NHS Trusts. The majority of my previous experience is within musculoskeltal and orthopaedics, with my last employment before starting at the Nuffield Hospital being in a physiotherapy gym setting which enabled me to rehabilitate a large range of pre and post-op orthopaedic cases.

I very much enjoy working in Musculoskeletal and have a keen interest and experience in Sports Specific Rehabilitation, and have attended courses such as: Rehabilitation for Runners; Pitchside Management; Taping; Sports Massage and Assessment of the Foot and Ankle.

Outside of work I enjoy Surfing, Fell Running, Mountain Biking, Climbing and Yoga. I have a keen interest in Yoga and Meditation and feel this can be encompassed to help treat people with a number of different musculoskeletal conditions such as lower back pain, as well as, sports specific prehabilitation and rehabilitation which, I have incorporated for my own personal benefit for surfing and running.

I wish to develop this further at the Nuffield as a physiotherapy treatment and will be attending a physiotherapy specific yoga course this year for this
