Physiotherapy is a profession whose aim is to encourage and support the return to normal following illness, surgery, disease or trauma. It can be effective in the treatment of a range of muscle, joint and nerve conditions.

Physiotherapists use a wide range of techniques such as manual therapy and exercise prescription to maintain health for people of all ages, helping patients to manage pain and prevent disease.

We can offer expertise in upper limb and hand rehabilitation, pain management programmes and post-surgical recovery. Many of our therapists are also trained in Pilates, Acupuncture and Joint Manipulation, carrying out thorough biomechanical assessments to enhance and optimize function.

We have strong links with many orthopaedic consultants and have an excellent track record in the rehabilitation of upper and lower limb sports injuries. In addition we can offer pre and post natal treatment and advice as well as vertigo and balance rehabilitation with our vestibular specialist.

Sam Butterfield Senior MSK Physiotherapist About

Sam Butterfield

Senior MSK Physiotherapist

How can I help you improve your health?

I qualified as a physiotherapist from the University of Bradford with a 1st Class Hons BSc in Physiotherapy and went on to work within the NHS for several years. During my time I specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, completing all rotations within this field. I ran ACL rehab classes and supervised students as a clinical educator. Following this I had a short 9-month spell at the Yorkshire Clinic working both Orthopaedics and MSK outpatients alongside running my own private clinic as lead physiotherapist.

I then obtained a Senior Physiotherapist position at Nuffield Health and decided to dedicate my full time commitment in this post at Cottingley, as well as working as part of the triage service at Nuffield.

I have a keen interest in treating musculoskeletal conditions and have a vast amount of experience in all areas of the field ranging from simple aches and pains to more complex injuries as well as providing post-op rehabilitation. I have a special interest in knee injuries such as complex ACL and meniscal injuries as well as all things shoulder-related, but by all means not limited to these. I enjoy all things MSK-related and the problem solving that comes with it.
