Every course of treatment starts with a 45-minute initial assessment to assess your symptoms, then recommend the right plan for you and begin treatment. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. Your physiotherapist will advise how many appointments you will need but you can stop treatment at any time. *Treatment price does not include specialist pelvic health physiotherapy appointments.

What is physiotherapy and how could it help?

Physiotherapy is a profession whose aim is to encourage and support the return to normal following illness, surgery, disease or trauma. It can be effective and is commonly used in the treatment of muscle, joint and nerve conditions.

Nuffield Health physiotherapists will use a wide range of techniques, such as manual therapy and exercise prescription to maintain health for people of all ages, to help patients to manage their pain and prevent disease.

We maintain strong links with many of our Derby consultants and have an excellent track record in the rehabilitation of upper and lower limb sports injuries.

Qualifications, registration and governance

All the physiotherapists that work at the Nuffield Health Derby Hospital are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registered with the Health Professions Council.

Vivienne graduated in 1995 from the Manchester School of Physiotherapy and gained experience in a number of specialities whilst working within the NHS before specialising in musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

She has worked at the Nuffield Health Hospital in Derby for over 15 years during which time she has continued to work in musculoskeletal outpatients, she has a keen interest in exercise rehabilitation, particularly in persistent pain management and post-operative rehabilitation.

I first graduated from the University of Leeds in 2010 completing a degree in Biology. I then continued my studies at the University of Huddersfield, graduating in 2016; having completed my degree in Physiotherapy. I have worked in both the NHS and Private sectors in the UK and overseas.

I enjoy using my knowledge and skills to treat sporting injuries and post-op procedures as well as acute and chronic MSK conditions. I have a keen interest in functional medicine and enjoy exploring how diet and lifestyle can contribute to pain and injury. I am also an advocate for women’s health and enjoy promoting and facilitating wellness for women in all stages of their lives.

How can I help you improve your health?

I believe in a holistic approach and take time to gain a thorough assessment to understand the person’s condition, the underlying causes and the effect that it is having on the person’s life.

My treatment includes education around the diagnosis, discussing healthy lifestyle changes, pain management advice, hands-on manual therapy and formulating a rehabilitation programme that is achievable for the patient’s lifestyle and is driven towards achieving the goals we have set together.

Qualifications and Specialties:
I graduated from studying physiotherapy at the University of Birmingham in 2018. During this time, I was also a pitch-side first aider for the University’s American football team. I worked in the NHS for 5 years before starting at Nuffield Health.

My main interest is in lower limb rehabilitation and helping someone return to full function, fitness and/or sport.

Jenny graduated from the Manchester School of Physiotherapy in 2005, initially becoming a rotational physiotherapist at Salford Royal Hospital, before returning to her native Derbyshire to start her career as an associate physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal and sports injuries.

Jenny joined Nuffield Health in January 2022 after a year out to have a baby. Prior to this, she spent 4 years working in private practice and NHS clinics in Nottingham as a specialist practitioner in the lower limb and the hand. Her earlier interest in sporting injuries has now broadened to include biomechanics and injury prevention.

Having qualified in the Netherlands in 1991, Steven spent his early working years in private practice in Holland, before working in the USA for a year covering post-trauma rehabilitation.

Steven has gained over 30 years of clinical experience, with a special interest in Shoulder, Knee, Jaw/ TMJ and Vestibular Rehabilitation.

He strongly believes in the use of evidence-based therapy and the use of exercise strategies to improve people’s lives and function

How can I help you improve your health?

Rebecca trained at Sheffield Hallam University and has worked at Nuffield Health for over 15 years. Prior to this, she worked in the NHS. Her main area of speciality is female pelvic health - helping women with weak or tight pelvic floor muscles, pelvic pain, ante or post-natal complaints, incontinence, prolapses and post-op recovery.

Rebecca also enjoys treating a whole range of musculoskeletal conditions.

How can I help you improve your health?

Curtis qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2019, completing 3 years as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in the NHS before moving to Nuffield Health in 2022.

Before qualifying as a Physiotherapist, he completed a degree in Sports Science and utilises this knowledge of strength and conditioning to help create person specific rehabilitation programmes to manage acute and chronic pain, help increase function and aid the return to sport. These conditions may be a result of injury, post-surgery or other underlying factors.
