Your initial 45-minute appointment involves an assessment and treatment. We assess your pain and symptoms to determine the cause of these symptoms, then recommend a treatment plan for you and begin this treatment. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. Your physiotherapist will advise how many appointments you will need but you can stop treatment at any time.

What is physiotherapy and how could it help?

Physiotherapy is a profession whose aim is to encourage and support the return to normal following illness, surgery, disease or trauma. It can be effective and is commonly used in the treatment of muscle, joint and nerve conditions.

Nuffield Health physiotherapists will use a wide range of techniques, such as manual therapy and exercise prescription to maintain health for people of all ages, to help patients to manage their pain and prevent disease.

Vivienne graduated in 1995 from the Manchester School of Physiotherapy and gained experience in a number of specialities whilst working within the NHS before specialising in musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

She has worked at the Nuffield Health Hospital in Derby for over 15 years during which time she has continued to work in musculoskeletal outpatients, she has a keen interest in exercise rehabilitation, particularly in persistent pain management and post-operative rehabilitation.

Carol has a wealth of experience gained from a wide range of clinical settings in both the public and private sectors and enjoys treating a variety of musculoskeletal disorders including complex cases.

Previously she has worked alongside orthopaedic consultants as an advanced physiotherapy practitioner where her role involved a combination of triage, clinical assessment, injection therapy and manual therapy clinics.

She has a special interest in climbing related injuries and has previously worked as a volunteer physiotherapist with the Junior British Climbing team.

How can I help you improve your health?

Since qualifying in 1988 Sian has worked in a large variety of hospitals within the NHS gaining experience in neurology, neurosurgery, burns and plastics, orthopaedics, thoracic surgery and intensive care.

She is currently working in orthopaedics, working closely with the consultants and ward team and is also responsible for any neurology patients referred to the outpatient Department.

I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2006 and spent the early part of my career in Bristol carrying out my rotations as a junior physiotherapist.

I moved to Derbyshire to take up a role in the NHS as a senior musculoskeletal specialist physiotherapist. I have spent my entire career in the NHS. Within this time I have developed a breadth of experience in the assessment, diagnostics and management of musculoskeletal pain presentations.

I have completed post graduate courses in chronic pain management and radiology.

Steven graduated from the university of Utrecht, The Netherlands in 1991 and has worked for the majority of his life in private sector both in the UK and overseas.

Since joining the Nuffield Health he has specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy gaining extensive experience working with both acute and chronic patients. He has an interest in ACL rehabilitation, post shoulder surgery and TMJ.

Since graduating from the School Of Physiotherapy in Birmingham in 1994 Kay has worked in a variety of settings both within the NHS and abroad.

She has extensive experience in orthopaedic physiotherapy and acute post-operative rehabilitation. Kay sees patients from pre-operative assessment through to discharge, working closely with the hospital team and orthopaedic consultants ensuring patients receive optimal patient centred care.

Rebecca graduated in 1997 and initially worked in the NHS before moving to the Nuffield Health Derby Hospital in 2007.

She specialises in women’s health, treating gynaecological, obstetric and chronic pelvic pain conditions, as well as seeing men’s health patients (predominately for chronic pelvic pain). She also treats general musculoskeletal and orthopaedic patients.
