Your initial 45-minute appointment involves an assessment and treatment. We assess your pain and symptoms to determine the cause of these symptoms, then recommend a treatment plan for you and begin this treatment. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. Your physiotherapist will advise how many appointments you will need but you can stop treatment at any time.

How can I help you improve your health?

Harriet qualified as a chartered physiotherapist from Cardiff University in 2002.

Since qualifying Harriet has gained a wealth of knowledge and clinical experience whilst working in the NHS in an outpatient setting, treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, neck pain, upper limb and lower limb complaints and orthopaedic conditions.

During this time Harriet also graduated with a post graduate diploma in neuromusculoskeletal healthcare from Keele Univeristy in 2010

Harriet has experience in treating patients using aquatic therapy and also provides acupuncture for pain relief for her patients and is a member of BMAS.

Harriet treats all conditions; however has a special interest  in shoulders, having worked closely in her previous role with a shoulder surgeon.

Harriet has recently completed her APPI Level 2 and is providing her Pilates expertise at the Hospitals.

Jon qualified as a Physiotherapist in Cardiff in 1994 after previously completing a degree in Human Movement Studies. He is an experienced physiotherapist having worked within the NHS prior to gaining further experience in New Zealand. 

On his return to Wales, Jon has worked exclusively in private medicine since 1999, with a special interest in Orthopaedic rehabilitation with specific regard to hip and lower limb problems and running related issues.   

Having completed his Post Graduate Diploma he is now in his final year of a Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine. As well as his treatment and exercise prescription skills, he is also qualified in pitchside trauma management through his work with local rugby teams.

Adrian Brown is a senior physiotherapist at Nuffield Health Cardiff & Vale Hospitals. Adrian qualified from Cardiff, South Wales in 1991.

Adrian managed to combine his professional career as a highly respected physiotherapist with that of a national level athlete. Continuing his sporting experience as the physiotherapist for South Wales rugby club, Newport RFC for five years and leading the physiotherapy team looking after the 1992 Olympic learning difficulties team for the games in Madrid before concentrating on his area of specialism within physiotherapy at BUPA Cardiff.

As a senior specialist physiotherapist, Adrian has undergone extensive post graduate training in manipulative techniques and rehabilitation physiotherapy protocols.

Although a spinal physiotherapy specialist, Adrian retains his rehabilitation skills in the post-op rehabilitation physiotherapy of knees, shoulders and ankles, and is one of the senior staff responsible for maintaining clinical excellence more recently his own interest in cycling has led to a professional interest in bike fit and its relationship to injury.

Having qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1993 Sean then went on to play over 500 1st team games for 4 professional clubs. Having kept up his clinical skills whilst playing on retirement Sean became the Head Physiotherapist at Cardiff City FC. After 9 years at CCFC Sean left to go abroad and become Head of Sports Medicine and Performance at Geneva Sports in Switzerland. 

He returned 18 months later in 2015 to become Lead Physiotherapist at Crystal Palace FC. Sean Has also been the Lead Physiotherapist the Football Association of Wales(FAW) since 2011 and in January this year took up a full time roll as Medical Services Manager and Lead Physiotherapist with the FAW. 

Sean has a special interest in all lower limb musculoskeletal injuries, movement dysfunctions and the return to play of athletes.

How can I help you improve your health?

Catherine Hext qualified from Keele University in 2001. She then joined Cwm Taf NHS trust and was employed there until 2010. Within the NHS Catherine developed a special interest in lower limb injuries and rehabilitation. During this time Catherine completed an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy and graduated in 2008.

Catherine was recruited by Nuffield Health Cardiff & Vale in 2010. In 2012 she was appointed as outpatient physiotherapy clinical lead and managed the outpatient team at both Cardiff Bay and Vale hospital sites. Progressing from this Catherine is currently the Physiotherapy Manager at the Cardiff & Vale Hospitals managing both inpatient and outpatient teams.

Catherine maintains a clinical caseload at both our South Wales hospitals and is an Acupuncture practitioner and is a member of the AACP.

Andrew Massocchi Physiotherapist About

Andrew Massocchi

Andrew Massocchi qualified at the Cardiff School of Physiotherapy, South Wales, in 1991. He continued his career in the Royal Navy as a physiotherapist, where he first joined as a medical assistant in 1979. He had extensive medical training as a Royal Navy Commando and saw active service in the Falklands in 1982 where he used his skills providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation for battle casualties.

Andrew worked both at the Royal Marine Commando Training Centre, Lympstone and HMS Raleigh where he became Head of Rehabilitation for all trainees and trained ranks.

In 1997, Andrew transferred to the Royal Army Medical Corps on a commission and after successfully completing Sandhurst Military Academy became head of Rehabilitation at the Army Training Centre, Pirbright as a Captain.

After 22 years of military service Andrew spent 8 years running his own private physiotherapy practice in Plymouth where he became involved with elite athletes at National and International sport. During his time there he became Head Physiotherapist to Plymouth Albion RFC and Devon County rugby teams.

Andrew has worked at Nuffield-Cardiff and Vale Hospitals since 2010 and has had the opportunity to work with the Cardiff Blues as well as treating players from the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team.

Recently Andrew has taken an interest in Hand Therapy.

Chris qualified from Southampton University, School of Physiotherapy in 2004 and commenced employment in Swansea NHS Trust where she remained for 13 years.  During this time she gained a wide scope of knowledge through junior and senior rotations settling within the musculoskeletal field, treating all types of injuries and issues. 

Chris has had active roles within sport over many years in Football and Semi-Professional Rugby.  Prior to her physiotherapy degree Chris was a qualified staff nurse working in Accident and Emergency Medicine.

Since completion of her BSc in Physiotherapy Chris has progressed and completed her MSc in Lower Limb MSK Studies at University of Wales Institute Cardiff in 2017 with a specialist interest in hip pain, lower limb injuries and pathologies.  In addition to this she also treats a wide scope of other musculoskeletal problems and issues including spinal issues.   

Chris was a lead physiotherapist in hydrotherapy in her previous role and enjoys integrating this with patients as required within Nuffield Health. 

Chris has completed her APPI Level 1 training and enjoys applying this to her work place.

Donna qualified as a chartered physiotherapist from Cardiff in 2005 and was recruited by Nuffield Health Cardiff and Vale in 2010. Prior to this she worked at Morriston and Singleton Hospitals in Swansea and with Swansea City’s Centre of Excellence.

Donna holds a post-graduate diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine and treats all forms of musculoskeletal problems. 

In recent years Donna has developed a special interest in Women’s Health Problems and is passionate about providing a service which really can improve the quality of women’s lives. She treats women who suffer from pregnancy-related musculoskeletal problems, women who have problems with continence or pelvic organ prolapse and provides post natal body checks.

Donna has also completed her level 3 mat work APPI so is starting to provide a Pilates service at the Vale.

Nicki Phillips Physiotherapist About

Nicki Phillips

Nicki Phillips is a Chartered Physiotherapist and a Professor in Cardiff University, Cardiff, South Wales, UK.

Nicki's academic post is mainly centred around her role as Programme Manager of the MSc in Sport and Exercise Physiotherapy. She also contracted out of Cardiff University by Sport Wales as a consultant to the High Performance Sport Support Team.

Nicki is currently President of International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy and was part of an expert panel involved in compiling international competency standards in sports physiotherapy.

Nicki completed her PhD in Cardiff University on the challenges of functional coping in ACL deficiency. Her main area of experience is in the field of sports injury management, with a specific interest in sports rehabilitation of upper and lower limb.

Sports experience includes working with the Welsh and British Weightlifting teams, professional rugby union, three Olympic Games, two Team GB Olympic Holding Camps and six Commonwealth Games. She was Chief Physiotherapist for Team GB at Beijing Olympic Games and is the Head Physiotherapist for Team Wales at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Nicki works in the Nuffield Health Cardiff and Vale Hospitals Physiotherapy Dept in Hensol two evenings each week bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to South Wales' leading private clinics and private hospital in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Jo Tripp Physiotherapist About

Jo Tripp

How can I help you improve your health?

Jo qualified in Bristol in 1995 and then worked at the RUH in Bath where she specialised in orthopaedics and outpatients. She also gained extensive experience as a hand therapist working alongside consultants in hand clinics.

Jo then worked at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth until 2008, where she continued to specialise in musculoskeletal conditions including further experience in hand therapy and trauma as clinical lead for burns and plastics.

She then moved to Dorset where she was head of department for 2 physiotherapy departments in Swanage and Wareham.

Jo has undergone extensive post graduate training in clinical Pilates and rehabilitation with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute). She became certified as a Pilate’s instructor in 2003 and became a presenter for the APPI between 2009 and 2012. She is responsible for the set up and running of the current Pilates for low back pain service which runs at the Cardiff & Vale hospitals.

Jo also specialises in the treatment of pregnancy related back pain offering both manual therapy and exercise based therapy to pregnant clients.
