Your initial 45-minute appointment involves an assessment and treatment. We assess your pain and symptoms to determine the cause of these symptoms, then recommend a treatment plan for you and begin this treatment. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. Your physiotherapist will advise how many appointments you will need but you can stop treatment at any time.

Many of our therapists are also trained in Acupuncture and Joint Manipulation, carrying out thorough biomechanical assessments to enhance and optimize function. The physiotherapy team at Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital includes a clinical specialist physiotherapist who has extensive experience in treating men and women with continence issues (both bladder and bowel) as well as all aspects of women’s health, including vaginal and pelvic pain, vaginal prolapse, sexual dysfunction and pregnancy related conditions.

We have strong links with many orthopaedic consultants and have an excellent track record in the rehabilitation of upper and lower limb sports injuries. In addition we can offer pre and post natal treatment and advice.

Rachel has worked as a senior physiotherapist at Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital since 2003, working on the wards and in out-patients.

She qualified as a physiotherapist in 1992 and has been specialising in women’s health and continence since 2005, completing a Master’s Degree in continence in 2013.

She has a particular clinical interest in the management of male and female urinary incontinence and feels that physiotherapists have a huge role to play in the management of this common and distressing condition.

Jenny Brown


How can I help you improve your health?

Jenny qualified in 1987 and has worked for Nuffield Health since 1993. She has been the Physiotherapy Manager at The Shrewsbury Hospital since 2002.

Her particular interests lie in chronic pain management, with a holistic approach including treatments such as soft tissue work and acupuncture. She uses both a hands-on approach and guided self-management as indicated by thorough assessment and collaborative treatment planning.

Fiona qualified in 1989 at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, working first at the newly opened Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, and then Nuffield Health 15 years ago.

She works as an Inpatient Physiotherapist on the ward and in Preassessment. She really enjoys treating post-operative orthopaedic patients, especially hips and knees, as she loves the satisfaction of helping patients achieve their goals. She has always enjoyed the ward environment, working as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

Nerys Jones


How can I help you improve your health?

Nerys qualified as a Physiotherapist from The Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic  Hospital, Oswestry  in 1980. During her career she has worked extensively in the NHS and since 2007 at The Nuffield Health Hospital Shrewsbury.

She has specialised in treating musculo - skeletal conditions and has a special interest in pain relief. She is a qualified Certified Mulligan Practitioner using  pain free manual therapy techniques to relieve pain, improve movement and function. 

Nerys practices acupuncture to relieve pain and improve function, and is an Advanced level member of The Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Trudie qualified in 1986 and initially worked within the NHS a few years later  specialising in out patients.

She has worked at Nuffield Health since 1998 and specialises in Musculoskeletal physiotherapy and has a keen interest in sports.

Personally she represented GB in mountain biking in 1997, completed an ironman in 2014 and is training for Bike 24 in 2016.

Trudie really enjoys seeing patients achieve their aims and goals. She has a hands on approach and also practises acupuncture. She strongly advocates education and advice to help patients with their self management.

How can I help you improve your health?

Tracy qualified in 1989 and initially worked in the NHS within many specialities. Subsequently her work has been at BUPA and Nuffield Health, mostly within the ward environment. Although having experience of many areas of physiotherapy, she really enjoys the hand out-patient / orthopaedic ward mix of clients that her current role offers.

The hand patients role has enabled her to develop post-surgical splinting experience as well as assessment and treatments of those being referred from clinic with a variety of conditions.
