About

Mr Boyd is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at Leicester General Hospital with a private practice at Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital. 

Mr Boyd has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust since 2003.  He now also leads the Sport and Exercise Medicine Department.

He trained in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Nottingham and Brisbane, Australia where he undertook a senior clinical fellowship in Sports Orthopaedics and knee surgery.  He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine of the United Kingdom.  He specialises in elective orthopaedics and sports injuries.

Mr Boyd's main areas of focus are knee, shoulder and foot and ankle problems including overuse syndromes.  He has active roles in research, teaching and examining.  He is an Olympian and Commonwealth Games medallist in swimming events and is the current Chairman of the Amateur Swimming Association and British Swimming Medical Committees.
