Abdominoperineal resection
Abdominoperineal resection (also known as APR) is a procedure to remove your rectum, anal canal and lower bowel. A permanent colostomy (stoma) is created to allow for the passage of stool.
Anterior resection surgery
Anterior resection surgery is used to treat bowel cancer and other conditions affecting the rectum and lower bowel. At Nuffield Health Derby Hospital, our experienced colorectal surgeons provide expert treatment and personalised care throughout your diagnosis, surgery and recovery.
Colorectal surgery
Colorectal surgery is a special type of surgery that treats a wide range of problems with the large bowel (your colon, rectum, and anus).
Femoral hernia repair
A femoral hernia can cause a noticeable lump low in the groin, along with discomfort, pain or a dragging sensation that may worsen when standing or lifting. At Nuffield Health Derby Hospital, our experienced surgeons provide expert femoral hernia repair to repair the weakened area and reduce the risk of complications such as the hernia becoming trapped or strangulated.
Haemorrhoidectomy (piles removal surgery)
If haemorrhoids are causing itching, pain or bright-red bleeding, a haemorrhoidectomy may help provide lasting relief. At Nuffield Health Derby Hospital, our experienced colorectal surgeons offer expert assessment and treatment for persistent or severe haemorrhoids, supported by modern facilities and personalised care throughout your treatment and recovery.
Ileal pouch anal anastomosis
If you have severe a bowel disease such as colon cancer or ulcerative colitis, you may need to have your large intestine (colon and rectum) removed. An Ileal pouch (or J pouch) procedure will help restore more normal control and passing of stool.
Inguinal hernia repair
If you've noticed a lump or discomfort in your groin, you may be dealing with an inguinal hernia. At Nuffield Health Derby Hospital, our experienced surgeons provide expert inguinal hernia repair surgery to treat the underlying weakness in the abdominal wall, relieve pain and discomfort, and help prevent the hernia from becoming larger or causing future complications.
Laparoscopy
A laparoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows your consultant to diagnose and treat conditions affecting your abdomen and pelvis.
Rectopexy
Rectal prolapse occurs when part or your entire rectum (last part of your colon where stool is stored) falls out of your anus (back passage).
Rubber band ligation for haemorrhoids
Living with bleeding, itchy or prolapsing haemorrhoids can be uncomfortable and frustrating. At Nuffield Health Derby Hospital, our experienced colorectal specialists offer rubber band ligation (haemorrhoid banding), a quick, non-surgical treatment that can effectively relieve symptoms and help you get back to daily life with minimal disruption.
