Angioplasty, also known as Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to open up narrowed or blocked arteries, most commonly to treat coronary artery disease and improve blood flow to the heart.

A successful angioplasty brings relief from angina and can make a heart attack less likely. For more information on coronary angioplasty and stenting visit our treatment page.
