Abdominal adhesion surgery

Abdominal adhesions are fibrous bands of scar tissue that cause internal organs and tissues to stick together. The surgical procedure to correct this, known as abdominal adhesion surgery or adhesiolysis, involves carefully cutting these bands to release the affected organs.

Appendicectomy

An appendicectomy is the surgical removal of the appendix, performed to treat appendicitis, which is a painful inflammation and infection of the organ. This common procedure is necessary to prevent the appendix from rupturing and causing a life-threatening infection inside the abdomen.

Bilateral (inguinal) hernia repair

A bilateral inguinal hernia repair is a surgical operation to fix hernias that have developed in both your left and right groin areas, which can often be corrected during a single procedure. A hernia occurs when an abdominal organ pushes through a tear in the muscle wall.

Bile duct resection

If your bile duct is damaged or diseased, your consultant may recommend bile duct resection (removal). The type and complexity of your procedure will vary depending on what area of the bile duct is involved.

Cholecystectomy (Gallbladder removal)

Cholecystectomy is a laparoscopic procedure used to treat gallstones by removing the gallbladder.

Endoscopic kidney stone treatment

Kidney stones may remain in your kidneys causing no symptoms. However if a stone begins to move out of your kidneys it can be painful or block the passage of urine and you may need treatment.

Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)

If you have been diagnosed with an aneurysm your consultant may recommend an endovascular aneurysm repair or EVAR.
