Ankle arthroscopy

Ankle arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure, often called "keyhole surgery," that allows an orthopaedic surgeon to diagnose and treat problems inside the ankle joint.

Ankle fusion

Ankle fusion, also known as ankle arthrodesis, is a surgical procedure performed to relieve chronic pain and instability caused by severe end-stage ankle arthritis or trauma. Damaged or diseased cartilage is removed from the joint and then the main ankle bones - the tibia (shin bone) and the talus - are permanently joined together with screws and plates.

Ankle ligament repair

Ankle ligament repair is a surgical procedure designed to treat chronic ankle instability, a condition where the ankle frequently feels wobbly and "gives way." This instability typically occurs after repeated or severe ankle sprains have stretched or torn the ligaments on the outside of the ankle, leaving them too loose to effectively support the joint.

Ankle replacement

Ankle replacement, also known as total ankle arthroplasty, is a surgical procedure used to treat ankle arthritis, relieving pain and restoring function. During the operation, an orthopaedic surgeon removes the damaged bone and worn-out cartilage from the ankle joint and replaces them with a prosthesis made of metal and a durable plastic spacer.

Bilateral Tenotomy

A tenotomy is a procedure to lengthen a muscle that has not developed properly or that has shortened due to injury or lack of mobility. Typically a tendon is cut allowing the muscle to stretch again and the limb to straighten.

Bunion surgery (bunionectomy)

A bunion is a bony bump on the joint at the base of your big toe. Bunion surgery (a bunionectomy) is an effective operation to remove the bony bump and realign the big toe joint, allowing you to return to your daily activities in comfort.

Cheilectomy

Flat foot correction

Forefoot reconstructive surgery

Fusion of big toe

Image guided joint injections

If your swollen or painful joints, ligaments or tendons do not respond to conservative treatments your consultant may recommend image guided joint injections.

Ingrown toenail (and ingrown toenail surgery)

When the side of your toenail curls and pierces your skin this is called an ingrown toenail.

Keller's arthroplasty

Keller’s arthroplasty is a surgery to treat bunions.

Manipulation under anaesthesia (MUA)

Under general anaesthetic your surgeon will move your stiff joint to a full range of motion, stretching the surrounding muscles and freeing the joint capsule.

Midfoot fusion

In some cases fusion of the bones in your midfoot may ease your pain and aid your mobility.

Toe joint fusion

If the stiffness in your big toe (hallux rigidus) does not respond to conservative treatment your consultant may recommend toe fusion.

Toe surgery

The three main toe problems that can be resolved with foot surgery are Deformity (mis-shapen), Pain in the toe joints and Metatarsalgia (pain in the front part or ball of your foot).
