Going home after your procedure
When you are ready to go home, you'll have all the information you require, and if you have any doubts we're just at the end of the phone.
Our involvement in your recovery doesn’t end when you go home. Your Nuffield Health consultant will give expert, personalised information to assist in your recovery and your nursing team will take time to answer any questions you may have. As well as talking to you about your recovery, we’ll give you a written report, so you can refer to it later. There will be advice about all aspects of your recovery, from eating and drinking, to driving and returning to work, including providing sick notes for your employer.
We make sure there's always someone available at the end of the phone for you to talk to, and we will arrange your follow-up appointments. We also provide advice on getting out and about and any mobility issues you can expect. Plus we’ll provide detailed information about wound care, healing, pain relief and any medication you will require.
It’s really important to read all the information we give you, when it’s time to go home after your operation. But if you have any questions please call us, especially if you have concerns about wound care, medication, possible rare complications such as infection, blood clots, DVT, bleeding, nausea or pressure sores.
