What makes our programme so effective?

Progress at your pace

We help you lose weight at a pace that's right for you.

We'll check key blood markers every six months and pair you with a qualified Weight Management Clinician to keep you motivated on your weight loss journey.

Advice that’s tailored to you

We don't do rigid solutions.

We believe in advice that's built around your lifestyle, routine, circumstances and preferences. Our experts use the information you share with us to create a personalised plan to help you reach your goals for the future.

Support in the early stages

Getting started is often the hardest part of losing weight.

Unlike our competitors, we offer the tailored support that’s needed to deal with the side effects that often cause people to give up on weight loss medication in the early stages.

Expert guidance

Most weight loss programmes don’t offer bespoke advice.

Our approach is a little different. To help build the solid foundation you need to lose weight, all our Weight Management Clinicians take the time to understand what motivates you, what works for you, and what matters most to you.

A data-led approach to weight loss

Our approach to weight loss is built on scientific evidence, not guesswork.

Insights from STEP trials show how combining lifestyle changes with semaglutide delivers sustainable and long-lasting results:

  • Behavioural therapy plus semaglutide boosts weight loss results
  • Ongoing treatment helps maintain weight loss over time
  • On average, participants lose 14.9% of their starting body weight after 68 weeks
  • A 2.4mg dose gives better results than 1mg, improving weight, blood sugar, and heart health
  • Semaglutide reduces visceral fat and improves metabolic health, especially in Asian populations

Who is our programme for?

Before starting our programme, we’ll need to make sure weight loss injections are safe for you to use.

We’ll assess your body mass index (BMI) and a few other factors at your initial eligibility consultation to make sure they're a suitable option for you.

How does the programme work?

1. Initial eligibility consultation

You will have an initial 60-minute eligibility consultation with a Weight Management Clinician to determine your eligibility for the programme.

During your consultation, we’ll take your cholesterol profile, HbA1c level, blood pressure, weight, BMI and waist circumference.

A GP will then review the results from the initial consultation to determine if it is clinically suitable to prescribe you weight loss injection medication.

  • What if I’m not eligible for medication?

If we determine that weight loss medication isn’t suitable for you, you can still take part in our Weight Management Programme.

It’s a great way to find out more about your lifestyle and how certain adjustments to it can help you achieve your weight loss goals and make your weight loss more sustainable.

  • Can I purchase weight loss medication without enrolling on the Weight Loss Programme?

You can only purchase weight loss medication with us as part of our wider Weight Management Programme.

Prescriptions are only available to individuals who enrol onto our programme and attend their scheduled follow-up appointments with a Weight Management Clinician.

This is because research shows that people taking weight loss medication are more likely to keep the weight off when they combine medication with sustainable lifestyle adjustments, which can be difficult to successfully implement on your own.

2. Prescription of your weight loss medication

Weight-loss injections are a type of medication that help regulate your appetite.

They mimic hormones that naturally occur in the body, reducing hunger to help you eat less food.

When combined with a healthy, balanced diet and increased activity levels, these medications can help you lose weight and maintain your results over time.

Once prescribed, your weight loss injection medication will be delivered to you for administration at home.

  • Which weight loss medications are available?

We offer two different medications as part of our Weight Management Programme.

Once accepted onto the programme, you can choose between Mounjaro® and Wegovy®. Both medications are clinically proven to support weight loss and help with the long-term management of obesity.

While they may seem similar, there are some key differences between the two. If you’re unsure which medication is right for you or if you have any questions, please ask them at your initial consultation.

3. Regular follow-ups with our experts

Our Weight Management Programme also includes a monthly follow-up with your Weight Management Clinician, either in person or virtually.

They will help you make sustainable behavioural changes that work for you to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. They will also ask you questions about any potential side effects you may be experiencing and give you practical advice on how to deal with them.

After each follow-up, if it is clinically safe to do so, the GP will prescribe the next dose of your weight loss medication.

Your initial consultation will be an in-person consultation with your Weight Management Clinician.

After your eligibility consultation and following enrolment onto our programme, you can choose to make your monthly check-in appointments virtual or in-person.

You will need to have an in-person appointment after 6 and 12 months on the programme so we can record your blood markers and physical measurements (blood test, body weight, waist circumference and body fat percentage) to track your progress.

Before your monthly check-in appointments, we’ll send you a short questionnaire to complete. It’s important you complete this to get the most out of your time with your Weight Management Clinician.

Your dedicated Weight Management Clinician will provide:

    • Personalised lifestyle advice tailored to your goals and health profile
    • Behavioural strategies to help you build sustainable habits
    • Side effect management to ensure your comfort and safety
    • Ongoing wellbeing support to keep you motivated and empowered

We combine clinical expertise with compassionate care to help you achieve lasting, healthy weight loss.

  • Can I choose which weight loss injection medication I get prescribed?

    Yes, you can.

Information about both Mounjaro and Wegovy will be provided during your initial consultation to help you make the right choice for you and your body.

Please note that prices will vary for different medications.

  • What happens if I experience side effects from the weight loss medication?

Mild side effects affecting the gastrointestinal tract are common when starting any weight loss medication. Your Weight Management Clinician will support with lifestyle adjustments and over-the-counter options to help manage these issues.

If your side effects are more serious, a Nuffield Health GP may prescribe a decreased dose of the medication or recommend that your medication be ceased entirely.

It may be necessary for you to undertake additional tests or regular checkups if you experience an adverse reaction or the development of certain medical conditions after taking a weight loss medication.

  • Can I change to a different weight loss injection medication during the programme?

If you want to change medication, you need to wait four weeks before starting the alternative. The new medication brand will need to start at the lowest dose (regardless of the dose you were administering previously), with incremental increases every four weeks if tolerated.

  • Do I need any equipment at home?

You will need access to scales that you can safely and accurately weigh yourself on to monitor how much weight you’re losing.

  • Do Nuffield Health provide my medication?

Your medication will be provided by a third-party partner pharmacy that we work with to facilitate the prescription of any medication used on our Weight Loss Programme.

Your monthly medication payments will be made to this third-party pharmacy alongside your payment to Nuffield Health for our weight management services.

  • How do I get my medication once it’s been prescribed?

Once our GP has issued your prescription and confirmed your participation in our programme, our partner pharmacy will contact you to take payment for the medication and confirm your delivery location.

Delivery times may vary, but you can expect to receive your medication within 3 working days.

  • How do I safely dispose of my sharps at home?

At your initial eligibility consultation, your prescription will include a ‘sharps bin’ to use for the disposal of your weight loss administration needles.

Once you are on the programme, it will be your responsibility to ensure that sharps are safely disposed of.
