Mr Thorpe qualified in Cardiff South Wales in 1981. He trained in General Surgery in Cardiff, St Thomas’s Hospital London and the Royal London Hospital before specialising in Urology, training at the Royal London Hospital (and completing an M.Ch. thesis there),The Freeman Hospital Newcastle and a Sabbatical in the USA.
He went onto the specialist register in 1994 and is a practicing consultant at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
