Cathy Laversuch is an experienced consultant physician and rheumatologist who is Clinical Lead for Rheumatology at Musgrove Park Hospital and is accredited in both General Medicine and Rheumatology. She has had many years experience both in managing acute medical patients and in all aspects of rheumatology. She continues to publish articles on a wide range of rheumatological subjects. She qualified from St Georges Hospital in London and trained in general medicine and rheumatology in London. She then relocated down to the West Country with her family, moving from her first consultant post at the Homerton and Royal London Hospitals.
She is happy to see patients with any form of rheumatic disease. Her special expertise includes inflammatory joint diseases, the connective tissue diseases, (scleroderma, lupus and vasculitis ) and gout. She does a combined clinic with Robert Stone (respiratory medicine) for patients with complex connective tissue diseases. She also oversees the care of adolescents with juvenile arthritis as they transfer to the adult service. She was the first Training Programme Director for registrars in the South West Penninsular Training rotation. At Musgrove Park Hospital she is the educational supervisor for registrars in training and tutor for undergraduate medical students. She is also an FA qualified coach and welfare officer for a youth football team.
Dr Laversuch is also an FA qualified coach and welfare officer for a grass roots football team.
