Siobhan has worked in the NHS as a Dietitian and Clinical Service manager, for many years. She has experience in a number of disciplines which include gastroenterology, oncology, diabetes, intensive care, bariatric surgery and eating disorders. She worked in industry formulating Vitamin and Mineral products for prescribing in conjunction with therapeutic diets. She holds an MPhil from University of Surrey for research in Nutrition in Trauma, at the McIndoe Burns Unit. More recently she has become a Master practitioner in Eating Disorders and Obesity. This specialist training enables her to incorporate behavioural and motivational change strategies into her practice. Patients find this both effective and sustainable. Dietetic intervention differs from nutritional intervention in that is is aimed at treating conditions which respond to dietary manipulation affecting heart, liver, kidney and digestion, in doing do, this promotes wellbeing and aids recovery. In today's media driven society, good interpretation and communication of complex food messages can be invaluable in enabling patients to become their own nutritional experts.
