How to book your test or scan

  1. To book a test or scan, other than for routine mammogram screening, we will always require an imaging referral from your GP or Consultant first.

  2. Please email your referral document to leedsradiologyadmin@nuffieldhealth.com (this is a dedicated inbox for referrals).

  3. Once the referral has been received and assess by our radiology team, they can confirm the exact test / scan required, the cost and expected timescales. 

Don’t have a referral? 

If you don’t have an imaging referral from your GP, you can book to see a Consultant here at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital and they can refer you, if clinically required. Guideline cost for a consultation is approximately £200. To book an appointment with a Consultant, please call our Outpatient team on 0113 3227251.

How quickly can I have my scan appointment? 

Once your referral has been clinically assessed, we always try our best to offer appointments typically within 1 week to facilitate fast diagnosis and treatment.

Please note, apart from routine mammogram screening, you cannot self-refer for MRI, CT, ultrasound and X-ray. Referrals must come from a clinician such as a doctor or consultant.

MRI Scan

During a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan a large magnet, radio waves and a computer are used to take incredibly images of the relevant part of your body. MRI has become widely used because the pictures are so detailed that the Radiologist can see even tiny changes. For some MRI scans a contrast agent (a type of dye) may be required at an additional cost of approximately £150. This is used to help give the Consultant clearer images.

CT Scan 

A CT Scan stands for Computerised Tomography. It’s a scan which uses  X-rays to take images of the body. It uses a computer to create ‘slices’ (cross sections) of the body and internal organs. Read more about the CT Scan procedure.

X-ray

Mammogram - Breast imaging

How to access private breast imaging at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital depends on your symptoms: 

  • If you are asymptomatic (not showing any new or concerning changes to the breasts) you or your GP can refer you for a routine screening mammogram. For costs and to arrange this appointment please call 0345 230 2040*.

  • If you are concerned about any changes to your breasts you can book an appointment direct with the Rapid Access Breast Clinic at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital on: 0113 3227251* (lines are open during office hours).

You will be offered an appointment with our specialist Breast Consultant Mr Philip Turton for a consultation. 

If clinically required, you will be referred directly to radiology for any recommended tests. The team will be able to confirm your diagnostic costs once you’ve had your initial consultation with Mr Turton, who will ascertain the exact diagnostics you will need based on your symptoms. 

*Breast imaging is not booked through our Radiology team, please use these specific numbers to access this service.
