Ophthalmology
This free event at Nuffield Health Plymouth hospital is for anyone who is suffering with sight problems and would like to explore options for treatment and find out more information about our procedures.
The event will give you the opportunity to speak to Professor Nabil Habib, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in a 10 minute complimentary 121 appointment. This does not replace a full consultation, but is a great way to find out more detail and ask any questions you might have.
As consultant surgeon at the Royal Eye Infirmary in Plymouth since 1997, Mr Habib regularly performs major eye operations including corneal transplants, surgery to treat cataracts, glaucoma, and eye trauma as well as laser treatment. He also treats Age-related Macular Degeneration patients with new therapeutic agents such as Lucentis and other anti-VEGF agents. He works closely with the League of Friends of the Royal Eye Infirmary to purchase advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment to provide up to date service to patients in the Peninsula.
His sub-specialty interest is in corneal transplantation surgery including new lamellar techniques and refractive and vision correction surgery, procedures which can reduce or eliminate the need for corrective lenses, providing patients with improved vision and a new sense of freedom. He performs laser assisted in situ keratomeleusis (LASIK), astigmatic keratotomy (AK), lamellar keratoplasty (LK), endothelial transplants (DSAEK), laser assisted epithelial keratomeleusis (LASEK) and clear lens extraction.
