Claire qualified as a medical doctor from Edinburgh University in 1999. She initially trained in Psychiatry becoming a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2004. She then went on to become a Member of the Royal College Of General Practitioners in 2006. She has worked as an NHS GP Partner, Appraiser and Trainer in London, Bristol and Cambridge. She ran her own private practice in London called The Pulse Clinic, and worked in Addiction Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital. She currently works as a Private GP in the Nuffield Hospital, Cambridge and in the Marylebone Centre for Psychological Therapies, London. She is a Member of the Sports and Exercise Psychiatry Special Interest Group and her research into Addiction and Sport won the Royal College of Psychiatrists Addiction Faculty Poster prize in 2019.

She completed her Master's from Bath University in Sports and Exercise Medicine in 2010. She has worked with both professional and amateur sportspeople; in particular triathletes, runners and boxers. She has competed herself at all distances from sprint to Ironman triathlon in her age group racing both for Great Britain and Ireland. She is a certified Personal Trainer, Sports Nutritionist and Online Coach with ISSA.

She founded Cognitive Sports Therapy to help people become mentally strong by improving their physical fitness and using their mind, body and breath.
