Mr Chris Gooding is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with a subspecialist interest in hip and knee surgery. He completed his specialist training on the NE Thames Training program in London. During his training program he completed an MD on the clinical and histopathological review of patients who had received an autologous chondrocyte implantation in the knee. He achieved the FRCS Tr and Orth in 2008.

He gained additional fellowship experience in Vancouver  Canada, San Diego USA, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and an AO Fellowship in trauma in Berlin. He is widely published in a number of peer reviewed Journals and has presented at a number of national and International meetings. He is currently an Associate Lecturer to the University of Cambridge. His NHS practice is based at the Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. 

Mr Gooding now offers partial knee replacement, total knee replacement and total hip replacement robotic orthopaedic surgery at Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital with the state-of-the-art Mako™ robotic arm system. Mr Gooding is a member of the group of surgeons known as SMART (Specialist Mako Assisted Robotic Team) based at the hospital. Robotic-arm assisted surgery provides patients with a personalised surgical plan for joint replacement surgery. The system works alongside the surgeon from the pre-surgery planning stage through to assisting in the surgery itself in order to improve the accuracy and precision of the procedure.
