Dr Ham graduated from the University College in London in 2005, and went on to train in medicine in London at the Royal Free and St George’s Hospital. He gained a PhD in cognitive neuroscience at Imperial College London and continued his post-doctoral research at Cambridge. He completed his clinical neurology training at Cambridge, the National Hospital for Neurology and Neuro-surgery, and Charring Cross Hospital. In 2018, he was appointed Consultant at Cambridge University Hospital where he currently practices.

He has expertise in epilepsy, cognitive neurology, headache, movement disorder, and acute neurological emergencies. He is also a specialist in adult epilepsy and the neurological consequences of brain tumours. He is actively involved in teaching medical students and organises the epilepsy special study module and the clinicopathological conference for undergraduates at Cambridge University. In addition to this, he is a co-author of a textbook on neuro-oncology and is involved in the research of epilepsy, and the diagnosis and management of brain tumours and headaches.
