Patient Testimonials

Thank you for the excellent care and treatment for my spinal surgery-from the Consultation, listening, diagnosis and surgery. The original pain l was experiencing was so severe to the point of finding it very difficult to walk and was unable to work. The procedure of the discectomy you performed. I am now pain-free, it’s unbelievable and an amazing feeling from where l was. I am now doing really well. I am so grateful for your professionalism, skills and help.” - June 2023

I had meant to pen a thank you letter immediately after I was discharged from your care, but this had slipped from my mind until my recent holiday to Derby. The car journey was several hours long, and I realized that I had been able to undertake it without pain. It made me reflect on just how successful my treatment has been and consider how wonderful your care was. I have gone from extreme pain affecting my mobility to living a normal life again. Thank you for your speedy intervention, your skill in my surgery, and your patience and support in my recovery. It was very important to me at our first meeting that you calmly talked me through what was wrong and the options available to me. It helped that you could show me the MRI image, and this made me understood the dangers involved. I did not feel rushed or overwhelmed with information. The most important thing that day was that you shared what advice you would give to one of your family members should they have a similar issue. You took time to reassure me before and immediately after my surgery. You made me feel confident of my recovery by noting my improvements at each review and gave me targets to aim for. I always felt I was in safe hands. I have recommended you to my family and friends in case they ever need a spinal surgeon.” - May 2023

“Following a spinal condition which saw me bed bound and in excruciating pain for a considerable time, I was referred to Mr Karpe for a consultation. From that moment onwards, through a spinal epidural and further spinal surgery, Mr Karpe has consistently shown care, consideration, respect and compassion towards me. He thoroughly explains everything in a way that can be easily understood and answers all my questions however inane they may seem. Mr Karpe is pleasant, polite and approachable and I am truly grateful for all he has done and continues to do for me. I have never in all of my interactions with specialists and other medical professionals met anyone like Mr Karpe. He shows such dedication and care towards his patients and their families. I believe I have regained a quality of life I never thought I would be lucky enough to have again." - May 2023
