About
Mr Jähnich has undergone full training in surgery in general followed by Specialist orthopaedic training. This included advanced training posts in shoulder and elbow surgery and a hand fellowship.
Since 2004, Mr Jähnich is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the management of upper limb problems. Furthermore, Mr Jähnich teaches on national and international courses. Until the end of 2017 he was the Regional Clinical Coordinator of the National Joint Registry for 12 years. Over the last 14 years of his practice as a consultant he has developed and broadened his surgical techniques.
To aid this he has visited world renowned orthopaedic surgeons. These include Professor Ralph Hertel in Berne, Switzerland and Alex Castagne in Milan, Italy.
Mr Jähnich enjoys good relationships with surgeons around the world and is also part of a regional group of shoulder and elbow surgeons for the purpose of further professional development and to discuss challenging cases in a forum of like minded individuals.

Mr Jähnich's interest in sports is beneficial to his patients who can expect not only the management of their shoulder and elbow problem but also be given advanced guidance on what exercises and training programs they can carry out during their rehabilitation.
Personal interests
In his spare time Mr Jähnich is a keen rower. He has competed on national and international levels throughout his life. He has won multiple national titles and remains the last ever East German National Champion in the lightweight double sculls and he has won the British National Championships.
These days he is still competitive in Masters rowing events. To date he has won six World Masters Regattas. He has also competed in triathlons and long-distance swimming events. When time allows he also enjoys playing basketball and golf.
