About
Miss Despina Mavridou is the Lead Fertility Consultant at Maidstone and Tunbridge Well NHS trust, with extensive experience in Assisted Reproductive Technologies (IVF), combined with a solid background in operative gynaecology,
Miss Mavridou brings a uniquely comprehensive skill set to the management of complex fertility issues and beyond. Her dual experience enables her to understand each patient's challenges in depth and offer clear, tailored guidance on the most effective treatment options on each individual patient.

- Minimal access surgery (ovarian cyst and polyp removal)

She completed her medical degree through the highly regarded joint programme between the University of St Andrews, Scotland -where she obtained her BSc- and Manchester Medical School, where she undertook her clinical training. Miss Mavridou subsequently carried out a research fellowship In United States, at Harvard Medical School, focusing on Group B Streptococcus vaccine development.
Her postgraduate training includes residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in St Louis, Missouri (USA), after which she returned to the UK to be closer to her family. She completed her consultant training in the UK and went on to secure the Lead role at MTW.
Miss Mavridou continues to expand her expertise in menopause care and Post Reproductive health, having gained additional certification and training in HRT 2025.
Miss Mavridou contributed to the development and refinement of the Year 1 and Year 2 teaching materials in Reproductive Medicine and Gynaecology for Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS). Her work played an important role in supporting the schools' journey toward full independent accreditation in 2025.
