About

Dr Yvonne West is a Consultant Respiratory Physician specialising in interstitial lung disease (ILD), pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis. She graduated from Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Medical School in 2002 and completed an intercalated BSc in Immunology. She undertook specialist training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine in London and Oxford and was awarded a DPhil from the University of Oxford for research into pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis.

Dr West manages a wide range of respiratory conditions including asthma, chronic cough, breathlessness, recurrent respiratory tract infections, bronchiectasis, COPD, pleural disease and pulmonary embolism. She has particular expertise in the diagnosis and management of interstitial lung diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), connective tissue disease-associated ILD and pulmonary sarcoidosis, with extensive experience in pulmonary function testing, high-resolution CT (HRCT) interpretation and multidisciplinary team (MDT) assessment.

Dr Yvonne is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred respiratory care and has a strong interest in improving outcomes for patients with complex and progressive lung disease. She was appointed Consultant in General and Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in 2017, where I served as Clinical Lead for Interstitial Lung Disease services. From September 2024, she took up a Consultant post in Respiratory Medicine with a specialist focus on ILD at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
