About
Dr Colin Stirrat attended the University of Aberdeen Medical School before completing his medical training in hospitals across Scotland. He undertook specialist cardiology training in Edinburgh, during which he was awarded a research PhD in cardiac MRI.
In 2018, he travelled to Sydney, Australia, to complete a clinical training fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology, before returning to NHS Lothian as a consultant in 2019.
Dr Stirrat specialises in the treatment of patients with cardiac rhythm disturbances, including symptoms such as palpitations and blackouts. He has extensive experience performing catheter ablation procedures, including atrial fibrillation ablations, as well as implanting cardiac pacemakers and complex devices such as CRTs and ICDs.
He is accredited by the European Society of Cardiology as a specialist in devices and electrophysiology. Dr Stirrat is also a member of the Scottish Cardiac Society, the British Cardiac Society, and the European Heart Rhythm Association of the European Society of Cardiology.
