Sexual health screening can be a nervous experience which is why we offer a professional, non-judgmental and discreet service at our Canary Wharf Medical Centre.

This service is provided within our Private GP consultations and can offer advice on sexual health and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) screening for both men and women in a comfortable environment.
Sexual health appointments can offer testing for STIs such as:
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhoea
- Syphilis
- Hepatitis
- HIV
Depending on which STIs you’re tested for, tests may include:
- Giving a urine sample
- An examination of the genitals, skin and an internal examination for women
- A swab from your urethra (the tube through which you pass urine) for both men and women
- A swab from your throat or rectum
- For women, a swab from the vagina or cervix (lower opening part of the womb)
There will be onwards referral to a genitourinary medicine (GUM) specialist for treatment and contact tracing if needed. Please be aware that any STI screening will incur additional costs per test. The doctor will contact you directly when the results are available and will maintain the utmost patient confidentiality.
