About
Dr Khan is a Consultant Physician and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Epsom & St Helier's University Hospital NHS Trust. He was appointed in 2002 and he spends the majority of his time as a practicing clinician. He works on the Acute Medical Unit seeing acute medical patients and is an expert in multi-system disease and multi-system pathology. He deals with complex problems and he can sort out difficult medical issues. He is also competent at looking after all diseases which are common in the ageing population. This includes polypharmacy, memory loss, Parkinson's disease, falls and syncope. He also takes a particular interest in balance disorders and dizziness.
He is interested in patients with undiagnosed problems, including weakness, weight loss and unexplained anaemia. He is also competent in acute medical crisis that a multi-system patient may have, including going off syndrome where a fit and well individual can suddenly decompensate.
He also is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of London and he teaches medical students, he's also an Examiner for the prestigious MRCP Clinical Examination and he examines both nationally and internationally. He is the Ex-President of the Royal Society of Medicine Gerontology Section and he currently sits in the Gerontology Section chairing important national meetings. He's the Trust Programme Director for internal medical training and he believes in succession planning and he helps shape specialists of the future.
