About
Mr Mason qualified in Cambridge and undertook his general surgical training in Bath, Bristol and Newport. His Orthopaedic training was in Southampton and at the end of this he had the opportunity to work in Sydney for a year long fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital, a large tertiary referral centre where he gained further experience in all aspects of hand surgery.
He was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in 2009. His practice is dedicated exclusively to conditions affecting the hand, wrist and elbow.
Mr Mason strongly believes that much of the improvement from hand surgery relates to the all-important aftercare provided by expert hand therapists. For this reason he maintains close links with all the hand therapists he works with to ensure that his patients receive the best possible holistic treatment both before and after surgery.

Personal interests
Mr Mason is married to a GP and they have four children to keep them busy. When there is time he enjoys cycling, walking and sailing.

He is Chief Investigator for a National Clinical Trial comparing steroid injection and surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome.
