About

Dr Rudy Capildeo is a Consultant Neurologist at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital specialising in headaches/migraine, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis; epilepsy, dementia - Alzheimer's and vascular, stroke illnesses, Myasthenia Gravis, rehabilitation of neurological illnesses, brain and spinal tumours, spinal disorders, peripheral nerve diseases including Guillain-Barre, dizziness, sleep and Neuroepidemiology.

Dr Capildeo was a Consultant Neurologist at the Regional Centre for Neurosciences, Oldchurch Hospital (now Queen’s Hospital, Romford) and at Basildon Hospital from 1982 until 2002. His neurology training was at the Charing Cross Hospital, Fulham, London, from 1973 to 1982.  In Essex, he set up specialist clinics in headache, migraine, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, TIA and provided paediatric neurology care.

Dr Capildeo has been in full-time private practice since 2002. He offers rapid access towards diagnosis and treatment for all types of neurological diseases. In addition to top of the range scanning at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital (MRI, MR angiography, CT scanning, and EMG/nerve conduction studies), DAT scanning for Parkinson’s disease can be arranged. For complicated spinal cases, upright MRI scans can be arranged, as can 3T MRI scanning for early dementia diagnosis. Dr Capildeo also offers Botox treatment for Migraine and treatments for Spasticity and Torticollis.

At any one time, Dr Capildeo will liaise with 35-40 different consultant physicians, neurophysiologists, radiologists and surgeons, for the benefit of his patients.

Dr Capildeo has wide experience in clinical research, major European and USA clinical trials, e.g. Sinemet First Study, European Stroke Prevention Study II, Multiple Sclerosis (Campath/Interferons). Since 1980 leading researcher of Methylprednisolone in Neurological Diseases. Headache/migraine clinical trials and neuroepidemiology studies in various countries around the world.

Dr Capildeo is a busy neurologist with a keen interest within his speciality, with 8 books and more than 80 papers published. It is also an interest of his to raise funds for research and charities linked to his speciality, i.e. multiple sclerosis.
