Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital is Yorkshire’s largest private hospital, and the only one in the region classed as ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission. Based in the heart of Leeds city centre, the hospital specialises in complex surgery such as cardiac, spinal and weight loss surgery as well delivering specialities more traditional to a private hospital such as orthopaedics, women's and men’s health, sports injury and cosmetic surgery.

A total of 1,000 hospitals from the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Australia and Israel featured in the project by US news magazine and website, Newsweek.

The Newsweek/Statista survey included one thousand hospitals from around the world which were selected based on recommendations from medical professionals, patient survey results and medical performance indicators. The resulting rankings provide a guide, according to Newsweek, for its readers to discover “the ways leading hospitals – close to home and around the world – are shaping the future of medicine”.

Commenting on the survey, Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital Director Maria Robinson said: “This is a fantastic achievement for our team and we’re delighted to be recognised as the UK’s leading private hospital outside London. As a not-for-profit organisation, Nuffield Health is able to invest in new resources and procedures to ensure we are always providing our patients with the very best and latest technologies. This survey will help to spread the word far and wide about the excellent facilities and standards we have here in Yorkshire.”

This year also sees Nuffield Health picking up the award for Private Hospital Group of the Year for a third year running at the HealthInvestor Awards 2019. The award recognises outstanding contribution to healthcare in the year, through innovation and excellence in healthcare products and services.
