About

Tom Bourne is a Professor of Gynaecology at Imperial College London and Hon Consultant Gynaecologist at Queen Charlottes and Chelsea Hospital London. He is also a visiting Professor at KU Leuven, Belgium. Previously, he was a lecturer at Kings College Hospital London from 1989 to 1994. Swedish MRC fellow Goteborg University Sweden 1995 and Consultant Gynaecologist St Georges Hospital London 1996-2007.

Tom has an international reputation for the use of ultrasonography in gynaecology, including assessing early pregnancy problems (e.g. miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy). He has extensive experience in the use of ultrasound to assess the ovaries for the presence of cysts and evaluate abnormal bleeding. His research forms the basis of many of the diagnostic approaches used in gynaecology. In general, he offers a “one-stop” approach using ultrasound to make a diagnosis and plan management at the same visit.
