About
Professor Ahluwalia joined the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in 2003 as a Consultant Ophthalmologist, with a special interest in oculoplastics, orbital and adnexal surgery.
He has has spent over 28 years in full-time ophthalmology and received his Higher Surgical Training in Ophthalmology at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. He spent a further two years sub-specialising in ophthalmic, plastic and reconstructive surgery, first at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and then at the Royal Perth Hospital, Perth, Australia.
Professor Ahluwalia also has expertise in oculoplastic ophthalmic surgery and offers blepharoplasties (upper and lower eyelid bags surgery), brow lifts, injections for facial lines and fillers, and scar-less excision of moles, lumps and cysts.
He deals with all aspects of ophthalmology but has a special interest in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery including Cosmetic eyelid bag surgery (Blepharoplasty), tightening of the eyelids, ptosis correction (drooping eyelids), tear duct surgery for watery eyes and eye removal and orbital implants for non-seeing, unsightly eyes. He has specific expertise in dealing with peri-ocular (around the eye and on the eyelids) malignancy and is Lead Clinician of Ophthalmic Cancer Services at University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire.
He received several clinical excellence awards in 2006, 2009 and 2011. He is the Head of postgraduate School of Ophthalmology for Health Education across the West Midlands being responsible for 58 postgraduate trainees.
