Dr Bashir was first appointed as a consultant in 2007 His training has included a Fellowship in Pain Medicine under the guidance of Professor Rowbotham (1st Dean of The Faculty of Pain Medicine) and Dr Beverly Collett (one of the pioneers of pain medicine).
To enhance his training he spent time in Perth Australia, as a rheumatology registrar and in London working in haematology and oncology. This provided him with a greater understanding of pain and suffering in chronic and cancer related disease.
He is a founder member of the prestigious Faculty of Pain Medicine.. He has a deep understanding of all aspects of pain and a great deal of experience in managing it.
He is a good listener and believes in a holistic approach to pain management with the aim of helping maintain quality of life, keeping patients at work or returning them to work where possible.
He uses novel therapies like botox, which is NICE approved and platelet injections for tendon problems and arthritis. He has a particular interest in backpain and nerve ablation techniques to prolong pain relief.
He is published in the area of radiofrequency ablation of the suprascapular nerve used in shoulder pain. He has presented a poster at the British Pain Society using lidocaine infusions in the management of fibromyalgia.
