About
Mr Gans Thiagamoorthy is a Consultant Gynaecologist and the only Royal College Subspecialty certified Urogynaecologist in Ashford, St. Peter’s and Royal Surrey hospitals.
He grew up in Surrey, gained his medical degree from St. George’s Hospital Medical School and was subspecialty trained in Urogynaecology in King’s College, London. With years of experience as a Gynaecologist and a meticulous interest in understanding the minutiae of this speciality, Gans is keen to ensure complete information is provided to empower women to make informed decisions about their care.
Gans has a holistic approach to women’s health and strongly believes that non-surgical therapy should always be offered first. However, when other treatment options are required, he is also capable of offering medical and surgical therapies and explaining the benefits and negatives of these with up to date evidence so that his clients can decide on which options suits their needs best.
Mr Thiagamoorthy endeavours to make treatments as least invasive to the lady’s life as possible and can offer small yet effective procedures which can be conducted in an outpatient setting to more complex procedures requiring day or overnight admission.
Gans specialises in Gynaecology, Urodynamics, Urogynaecology, Female Urology and Women's Health. He also specialises in bladder pain treatment, pregnancy-related pelvic floor services, recurrent urinary infection treatment, urinary incontinence treatment, urodynamics.

Research
Having conducted research focusing on the quality of life and improving the care pathways for women, Mr Thiagamoorthy has presented nationally and internationally as well as being widely published in medical journals. Gans has won numerous awards for his work in women’s health and his research has been quoted in national guidance by the Royal College of Obstetrician’s and Gynaecologists and Cochrane Reviews of best practice.
Mr Thiagamoorthy is the Chair of the British Society of Urogynaecologist’s Information committee. As such, has presided over the writing of a number of patient leaflets, nurse and consultant job descriptions and advice for Urogynaecologists including guidance for the management of urogynaecological concerns during the Covid pandemic.
