About
Dr Amara Ezeonyeji is an experienced consultant rheumatologist with her NHS practice based at St George's University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where she has worked since 2018. She has a broad range of expertise in general rheumatology, with specific interest in psoriatic arthritis, and spondyloarthritis.
Dr Ezeonyeji graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2002, having also obtained an intercalated honours degree in biomedical science during her medical studies. She went on to complete her specialist training in rheumatology and general internal medicine at University College Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts. Following this she went on to obtain an MD research degree from the Centre for Rheumatology Research at University College London, investigating the role of chemokines and cytokines in the pathogenesis of psoriatic arthritis. Since completion of her research degree, she has continued to be active in clinical research and clinical trials.
In addition to her busy NHS practice and research work, she is also regularly involved in teaching, clinical audit, and quality improvement projects in her department.

Psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, reactive arthritis, connective tissue disease, fibromyalgia and widespread pain syndromes, gout and other crystal diseases, osteoarthritis, back pain and soft tissue rheumatic diseases.
