Currently Chair in Gynaecology at Imperial College London and Hon Consultant Gynaecologist at Queen Charlottes and Chelsea Hospital London. Previously he was Lecturer at Kings College Hospital London 1989-1994. Swedish MRC fellow Goteborg University Sweden 1995. Consultant Gynaecologist St Georges Hospital London 1996-2007. Visiting Professor KU Leuven Belgium 2008 onwards.
Professor Bourne has an international reputation for the use of ultrasonography in gynaecology including assessing early pregnancy problems (e.g. miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy). He has extensive experience in the use of ultrasound to assess the ovaries for the presence of cysts and to either diagnose or exclude ovarian cancer. In general, he offers a “one-stop” approach using ultrasound to make a diagnosis and plan management.
