Mr Hekal joined the spinal team at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital in October 2022 and continues to deliver a full-time role within the NHS at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
During his training, he completed four spine fellowships including Great Ormond Street Hospital, centres in Nottingham and Birmingham and Sydney, Australia, which provided Mr Hekal with vast experience in paediatric and adult spine surgery.
He was appointed Consultant Spine surgery at James Cook University Hospital in 2010 and remains the lead spine surgeon within the Trust. He is also responsible for training medical students and specialist trainees within the Trust.
Mr Hekal’s private practice at Nuffield Health covers all spectrums of adult spine surgery including spine deformities, degenerative cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine disorders, Balloon kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty for insufficiency fractures, minimally invasive spine surgeries and nerve root blocks.
