Research
General academic interest is in the field of
application of novel therapies to improve cardiac function. Early studies
evaluated the role of post-pacemaker implant “fine-tuning” of cardiac cycle
timings and use of temporary epicardial biventricular pacing in patients
following cardiac surgery. Both projects showed clinical benefits which have
been incorporated into routine clinical practice. Current projects involve
examining the roles of biventricular pacing in patients with heart failure and
preserved ejection fraction and the role of restoring sinus arrhythmia in
patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction.
