About
Mr Hobbs is a specialist Consultant Vascular Surgeon and has developed a specific interest in providing local anaesthetic, minimally invasive solutions to treating varicose veins and thread veins.
He is passionate about providing high quality care for patients with varicose and thread veins. He believes that the majority of varicose veins and thread veins can be treated with minimally invasive, state of the art techniques, under local anaesthetic as a walk-in, walk-out procedure with little down time. Clinic appointments and procedures are performed in a relaxed atmosphere and he makes sure that discussions about treatment are delivered in language that patients can easily understand.
He is trained in the use of duplex ultrasound, which is an essential tool in the assessment of varicose and thread veins. Accurate assessment of the anatomy and function of the veins, especially the deeper “feeder” veins, ensures that tailored, individualised treatment plans can be recommended, providing optimum results.

Outside of work he has a fun and varied life. He is married to a local GP and has two children who he spends most of his spare time with. He coaches junior rugby at our local club and enjoys fell-walking, squash and racketball.

Research
During his training, he spent two and a half years performing research and conducting clinical trials which culminated in the award of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
He has over 25 publications in peer-reviewed surgical journals on a broad range of vascular topics, have presented work at National and International conferences and have written a number of book chapters.
