About
Mr Makam is a Consultant in general, breast, thyroid and parathyroid surgery. He qualified from Sri Venkateswara University, India and went on to gain his postgraduate qualification in general surgery from Kurnool Medical College. He worked as Assistant Professor of Surgery in one of the biggest teaching institutions in India (Osmania Medical college, Hyderabad).
Mr Makam gained experience in gastrointestinal surgery, general surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery and worked as a Consultant in the Middle East for 3 years performing all types of elective and emergency surgical procedures. He has worked in various hospitals in the UK for over 15 years to gain exposure to vascular surgery, gastrointestinal surgery and neck surgery. He also worked as Post CCT fellow at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge and gained maximum exposure to breast cancer surgery, parathyroid surgery and Breast Reconstruction techniques. Mr Makam has been working as a consultant in NHS for the last 12 years.
After working various departments, he is now specialising in treating breast lumps, management of breast pain, nipple disorders (retraction, inversion, discharge etc), breast infections and breast cancer surgery. He also specialises in surgery of thyroid nodules, overworking thyroid gland (thyrotoxicosis) and parathyroid gland disorders causing high calcium in the body eg: adenoma. He also performs open hernia repairs eg; groin hernia, umbilical hernia and incisional hernia. Surgery of lumps and bumps eg: lipoma / fibroma , over tummy, legs, hands, face etc.
