About

Mr Melton is a specialist knee surgeon and was trained in the Wessex region during which time he was awarded the FRCS in Trauma and Orthopaedics followed by a CCT in Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery. He spent a year of fellowship training in Knee Surgery at the renowned North Sydney Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Centre. He also spent time completing fellowship training in limb reconstruction techniques in Russia and France. He has completed a Masters Degree in Orthopaedic Engineering and regularly calls on his knowledge of biomechanics and engineering in the clinical practice.

Mr Melton's special interests include surgical and non surgical management of knee injuries, repair and reconstruction of meniscal and articular cartilages, knee arthroscopy, reconstruction of knee ligaments, malalignment operations/osteotomy and knee replacement surgery.

Mr Melton now offers robotic orthopaedic surgery for partial knee and total knee replacements at Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital with the state-of-the-art Mako™ robotic arm system. Mr Melton is a member of the group of surgeons known as SMART (Specialist Mako Assisted Robotic Team) based at the hospital.

Robotic-arm assisted surgery provides patients with a personalised surgical plan for joint replacement surgery. The system works alongside the surgeon from the pre-surgery planning stage through to assisting in the surgery itself in order to improve the accuracy and precision of the procedure.
