About
Mr Alastair Davidson has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Hip & Knee surgery for twenty years. His NHS Consultant post is at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust in Surrey.
He trained under many world-renowned Professors & Orthopaedic Surgeons. He spent most of his postgraduate training at London Teaching Hospitals, and a Specialist Fellowship year in Sydney, as well as a final Specialist Training year at the Hip and Knee unit at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. After finishing his training in 2005 he was a Locum Consultant at the RNOH Stanmore, and subsequently Imperial College Hospitals London, before his appointment to Frimley Health where he now leads the knee fellowship training program.
He specialises in all aspects of Knee surgery, including Knee arthroscopy, Sports injuries, Ligament reconstruction, Knee replacement including Partial replacement, Total replacement and Revision knee replacement. He has extensive experience in Hip replacement surgery and uses the top-rated Exeter Total Hip Replacement following NICE and GIRFT guidelines. He is experienced with the Mako Robotic Hip and Knee joint replacement, which he uses at the Nuffield hospitals, as well as customised knee replacements including the Conformis knee replacement. He has a particular interest in cartilage repair and resurfacing and participated in the national MRC ACTIVE trial on Cartilage resurfacing.
He has published and presented nationally and internationally. He has on taught RNOH Stanmore courses and to Imperial College students, as well as acting as an examiner. He has also had the privilege of being a British Orthopaedic Association travelling Fellow & currently the BOA Clinical Champion for Frimley Health. Mr Davidson is a member of the General Medical Council, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Orthopaedic Association and the International Society of Technology in Arthroplasty.
He is happily married with two teenage children and enjoys sports such as skiing, rugby, golf, tennis, fencing, sailing, and travel.
