About
Dr Yiannis Kallis has been a consultant hepatologist and gastroenterologist since 2011. He divides his time between Barts Health NHS Trust (Royal London Hospital) and the Royal Free Hospital. He graduated from Cambridge University with distinction in 1998, and completed his postgraduate medical training in London.
Dr. Yiannis Kallis is Network Director for Hepatology for Barts Health and is Clinical Lead for the service at the Royal London Hospital. He is local MDT lead for ERCP and PBC services, and runs an outreach liver transplant service for NE London. He sits on national clinical guideline committees, serves as specialist advisor to NICE, and is a serving member on national liver society committees.
Special interests
Dr. Yiannis particular interests lie in chronic liver disease, disorders of the bile ducts (PSC, PBC), advanced therapeutic endoscopy and in liver transplantation.
Personal interests
When not working, Dr. Yiannis enjoys cycling, cooking and spending time with his young family.

Research
Dr Kallis completed his PhD at Imperial College London on liver stem cells in fibrosis and regeneration. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Barts and the London, QMUL and has published widely in high impact medical journals. He is principal investigator on a number of clinical trials for new therapies in liver disease and his main areas of research interest are in biliary disorders, treatments for cirrhosis and in advanced therapeutic endoscopy.
