Dr Bhatia was appointed as a Consultant in 2009, and was tasked to update and develop the Echocardiography Services at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
He is proud to lead a Dept. which has now achieved national accreditation in Echo/ TOE & Stress Echo and is actively involved in training clinical physiologists and Doctors.
Dr Bhatia has also been the Clinical Governance Lead for Specialist Medicine since 2009.
He went to school in Kent and trained in London. His PhD research was in the immune mechanisms involved in atherosclerosis. He is also a visiting Consultant at Kings College Hospital, London. He is an examination question writer & examiner for Royal College of Physicians of London.
He is specially trained to deal with health problems relating to your heart and circulation. Dr Bhatia mainly practices in the NHS, but over the years has grown to appreciate the constraints on consultation times and waiting times for many tests and procedures. This is not always best suited for many patients who need more time for a doctor to listen to the various issues in their health, with greater in-depth discussion and explanation about why and how we carry out cardiac investigations in order to provide either an explanation (diagnosis) for their symptoms or at very least reassurance and peace of mind.
The tests that he performs and can provide an expert opinion on include: treadmill stress testing, trans-thoracic echocardiography, CT coronary angiography, contrast enhanced echocardiography, trans-oesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, electrocardiographic and Holter monitoring analysis.
