Dr Rajinder Bilku qualified from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1995. He obtained specialist training in Cardiology on the West Midlands rotation with subspecialty training in pacing, devices, advanced cardiac imaging (including both transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI), and heart failure. He also undertook a two year advanced training fellowship in complex pacing and devices at Wythenshawe Hospital (University Hospital of South Manchester) before becoming a Consultant Cardiologist in 2011.
In September 2013, Dr Bilku was jointly appointed to his present substantive NHS posts as Consultant Cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Bilku has an extensive and considerable amount of experience in all aspects of cardiology including general cardiology, pacing and complex devices, imaging (including echocardiography, cardiac CT), heart failure, valve disease, and in the management of chest pain, breathlessness, hypertension, syncope, and palpitations and arrhythmia.
In his current post, as well as providing general cardiology, imaging and heart failure services, he provides subspecialist services in the implantation of pacemakers (including cardiac resynchronisation biventricular pacemakers for heart failure) and ICDs (implantable cardioverter defibrillators).
