Dr William Rea is a consultant in Anaesthesia at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Birmingham and a consultant in pain medicine for the Gloucester Hospitals NHS trust.
He qualified from the University of London in 1996 and completed his postgraduate training in Birmingham.
Dr Rea has considerable experience in the management of all forms of acute and chronic pain, with a special interest in abdominal and pelvic pain. he worked as a a consultant at the renowned University College Hospitals London, a National referral centre for men and women with abdominal and pelvic pain.
His anaesthetic special interests include regional anaesthesia and education. Dr Rea holds a masters degree in education for Health professionals and has held the prominent role of regional advisor for pain medicine, delivering training on a local and national level.
Dr Rea has extensive expertise in a number of interventional procedures such as injection therapies for pain. He is skilled in using the latest techniques, including Ultrasound and X-Ray guidance, to ensure the best outcome for his patients.
He is a fellow of the faculty of pain medicine and a member of the international association for the study of pain. He has been involved in research in both anaesthesia and pain medicine and has been widely published in several peer reviewed journals.
