About
Dr Pitts-Crick trained at Kings College London and completed a D.Phil. qualification in Biomedical Engineering at Sussex University. He has worked at Guys Hospital and the Hammersmith Hospital in London. In 1989 he was appointed Consultant Cardiologist at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. Dr Pitts-Crick helped to establish the angioplasty programme at the BRI and set up the electrophysiology department which was the first in the UK to undertake RF catheter ablation.
Other interests
At Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital Mr Pitts Crick offers an integrated approach to cardiovascular illness including advice on all aspects of angina, stress testing (Exercise ECGs) pacemaker programming and optimisation, control of blood pressure to relieve symptoms.
He has a special interest in implanting hidden pacemakers and looking into the cause of breathlessness in people. Breathlessness is treatable by understanding the condition causing the problem, which can be corrected by retraining. When treating a patient, an integrated medicine approach is taken, by looking at the person and lifestyle and not just the disease.
