Dean already had one successful spinal operation at Hull Hospital to rectify a prolapsed disc. Making a full recovery from the first operation, Dean then suffered an unrelated second disc prolapse within a matter of months.
“I knew straight away what it was as the pain was as intense as the first time. And so I knew what to expect and what the options were available to me. I’ve worked as a forklift truck driver for over 20 years and have always been very committed to my job. I’m not a ‘put my feet up and sit and wait ’kind of person – I was itching to get back to work and Nuffield Health York Hospital was able to see me and provide treatment straight away. The consultation, MRI scan and operation went really smoothly.
“Mr Deniz came to see me first thing in the morning the day after my operation, he helped me out of bed, put his arm around me and walked me around the bed and asked me how it felt to be on two feet. It was like a miracle. Whilst I was a bit sore from the operation, the pain was nothing compared to that I had been suffering before the operation. I feel like I’ve got my life back.”
